For more than 25 years, Charles Cilia has been refining a singular approach to guitar making — creating instruments that are not only beautifully made, but organic, responsive and alive in the hands of the player.
Every Cilia guitar is built from start to finish by Charles himself. There is no production line and no passing of an instrument from one person to another. From personally selecting the timber through every stage of construction, shaping, finishing and assembly, to the final setup and inspection, each guitar remains in the same pair of hands.
An Ongoing Pursuit
Cilia Guitars has evolved through more than two decades of building, questioning and refinement. Each instrument represents the accumulation of that experience and an ongoing pursuit of greater connection between player and guitar.
Central to that philosophy is the Enhanced Response System (E.R.S.), developed to create the three-dimensional tone, feel and response that have become a defining characteristic of Cilia Guitars.
The objective is not simply how a guitar sounds, but how it feels and responds — to touch, attack, dynamics and ultimately to the individuality of the person playing it.
